Water Systems Operator I
One (1) year of experience in semi-skilled or skilled work in construction, working mechanical devices or a maintenance related field preferably in a water or wastewater agency.
Water Systems Operator II
One (1) year of experience in the monitoring and operation of a water distribution system. This experience is specific to field operations of a potable water distribution system and does not include maintenance activities, such as installing or repairing pipelines, appurtenances or meters.
Water Systems Operator III
Two (2) years of experience in the monitoring and operation of a potable water distribution system for a public agency or one (1) year experience equivalent to a Water Systems Operator II. This experience is specific to field operations of a potable water distribution system and does not include maintenance activities, such as installing or repairing pipelines, appurtenances or meters.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: All levels require a valid California Class C Driver's License and a safe driving record.
Water Systems Operator I
California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade I Certificate.
Water Systems Operator II California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade II Certificate
Water Systems Operator III California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade III Certificate
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
All levels require a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. The Water Systems Operator III also requires training in water, wastewater and irrigation technology.
