Citizens’ Climate Education has a temporary 6-month position open for “SE Veteran Outreach Coordinator”.
This contractor will be responsible for coordinating at least a dozen outreach events across the SE (Virginia through the panhandle of Florida). Each event will have a local team to work the event - and this position does NOT involve travel to each location. The purpose of the events are to engage veterans and active military, as well as the general public, in an educational dialogue on climate policy. Each event will center around the showing of the movie The Burden or Tidewater (both directed by Roger Sorkin) and each event will include a panel with a Citizens’ Climate Education volunteer, a veteran or military presence, and a third local expert.
The position will report to the SE Regional Coordinator (Donald Addu) and will also work closely with the Conservative Outreach Director (James Tolbert). The position will coordinate between many other individuals for each location and other external organizations. After the events are completed, CCE will assign individuals to follow-up with each new contact obtained, and the Coordinator will track progress on these follow-up connections and/or follow up themselves.
The contractor must provide their own computer, mobile phone and remote working location. Meetings will be on-line through Zoom meetings on CCE’s Zoom lines. Georgia state residency is not a requirement.
The contractor will be paid $15,000 over a six month period for these services in equal bi-weekly payments. The level of effort is expected to be at least 20 hours a week over this period.
Review criteria for selection of this contractor include:
• Experience with outreach to veterans and/or to active military
• Experience with outreach to conservatives
• Experience coordinating multiple groups of people or events
• Experience with outreach on climate or other policy issues
• Experience in the military on energy or climate issues
• Proficiency in either Microsoft Excel & Word or Google Docs & Sheets required
