Security Engineer

Technica is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Security Engineer to join our growing team. The team of Security Engineers supports mission-critical applications for our government customer that is responsible for local and global law enforcement and intelligence efforts.

 

  • Develop or implement secure accredited AWS AMI
  • Administer security tools stack
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, customers and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Help identify strategies for addressing cloud security requirements
  • Provide advice on tuning the solutions or providing additional solutions for the database security space         


 

  • Experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
  • Experience assessing risks and performing comprehensive risk analysis
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. (e.g. CNSSI, DISA STIGs, FedRamp, FIPS, FISMA, and NIST)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research on systems issues and products as required
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of applicable risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
  • Proven experience with administrating and/or securing Windows and/or Linux machines
  • Proven experience with attaining and maintaining system accreditation
  • 5+ years of experience in security or systems related fields
  • Active Top Secret clearance (will be required to take CI Polygraph)Bachelor’s degree or higher
