Description
The RWA is seeking an Advanced Data Analyst (ADA) to join our team. The Advanced Data Analyst is responsible for data analysis, support and coordination to enable business decisions and transformation prioritization. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the identification, implementation, and utilization of effective data analytic tools and methods, championing data utilization and integration across applications and business areas. The ADA will support the business and technical areas in analysis and development in AMI system.

Job Responsibilities:
- Leads Business Analytics practice and supports benchmarking & organizational metric data gathering and reporting, including metric identification and development
- Facilitating Center of Excellence/Innovation Hub initiative selection and prioritization, providing insight and guidance to enable effective execution and analysis of initiative success metrics, including ROI
- Identifies opportunities for automation, AI / machine learning, robotics and similar technologies to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Assists with development, design, implementation, and adoption of these technologies based on approved/critical use cases to address critical business challenges
- Responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting AMI meter data to support Customer Care, Field Services, and other areas of the organization. Collaborates enable meter data sharing, resolve system/sync errors, analyze functional issues, analyzes data and executes system reports, KPIs, and daily scripts as required
- Builds and delivers meter data solutions, reports, KPIs, and dashboards from a variety of requirements and data sources
- Analyze, validate, and test meter data using SQL to discover anomalies and behavior patterns; develop complex, effective and efficient SQL queries to extract and analyze data to support additional data requests, incident research, unusual consumption analysis and theft identification, and respond to data issues reported by internal and external customers
- Provide technical support and help identifying and resolving issues with loading data into RNI, MDM, Connect, GIS, and coordinate fix/updates with our cloud support teams including testing new RNI and MDM releases, system upgrades and other configuration changes
- Works cooperatively with others in the capacity of data scientist to help verify the root cause of data anomalies and issues that arise
- Provides input on changes needed to improve data engineering/utilization and effectiveness and facilitates training and knowledge transfer initiatives
- Participate or lead the use case design, coding, testing, and delivery of business solutions in an agile approach
- Provide data and assistance, as required, to develop consumption trends for distribution system analysis (production vs. consumption, lost water calculations, etc.)
- Other duties as necessary to accomplish and support the strategic and tactical initiatives of the RWA

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or Information Systems, or related equivalent experience
- Background in IT or Information Systems technologies preferred
- Solid technical background with experience in SQL, PostgreSQL, data platforms, business analytics tools
- Familiarity with general MDM and SAP/BW batch jobs, and VEE rules
- Proven experience writing/testing/troubleshooting existing reports and KPIs using SQL
- Desire to perform detailed data verification efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge of SAP (front-end and back-end) and SAP BW
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis in development in Excel
- Familiarity with Smartsheet desired
- Demonstrated track record of learning new technologies and systems, building cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders, and solving complex technical issues required
- Ability to maintain the integrity of data during extraction, storage, manipulation, and processing required
- Knowledge of water utility operations preferred
- Experience designing and implementing automation/machine learning, preferably in R
- Demonstrated investigative problem-solving and issues resolution skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and vendors
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with teams and provide technical direction
- Ability to lead project planning sessions with departmental team members to analyze and develop requirements based on business needs
